Burglars Hit Worthington Little League Baseball Fields

Last year donors and sponsors teamed up with the little league organizations to beef up security at the fields.

They built a concrete block addition to the concession stand equipped with a sturdy garage door that locks at the bottom.

The season is barely underway and the thieves are back again this year.

Monday night burglars kicked in a side door of the building and destroyed the new garage door.

"It was meant to try to keep anybody from coming down here and getting into it. Because we keep too much stuff down here between equipment for the ball fields, equipment for the kids, food and stuff in here, it's just a lot of money to be replaced every time we have a break in," says Worthington Little League Vice President Fred Walters.

Police reports estimate damage around $2,000.

The vandals got away with some batting equipment and lots of food. League representatives hope the community will step up and help bring those responsible to justice.

If you have any information about the crime call Parkersburg Police Department at 304-424-8451.
