Michigan NCAA Final Four Notes

TEAM NOTES
? Michigan is making its seventh (fifth*) Final Four appearance and first since 1993*.

? U-M is making its third straight NCAA Tournament appearance and its 24th (19th*) appearance overall and has a record of 47-22 (40-18*), including a 5-3 mark under John Beilein.

? The Wolverines are 17-0 this season against non-conference opponents.

? Michigan is 5-8 (4-7*) all-time against Syracuse, but the two schools have never met in the NCAA Tournament. The most-recent meeting was a 53-50 victory by Syracuse on Nov. 26, 2010, in the semifinals of the Legends Classic in Atlantic City, N.J. Michigan's last win over Syracuse was a 93-61 victory on Dec. 26, 1997, at the Puerto Rico Holiday Classic.

? The Maize and Blue has outscored its four NCAA opponents by an average of 15.5 points. The Wolverines defeated South Dakota State by 15 points, VCU by 25, Kansas by two in overtime and Florida by 20.

? Michigan leads the nation in fewest turnovers per game (9.35).

? The Wolverines have hit better than 40 percent (33-82) of their three-point attempts in their four NCAA Tournament games.

COACH NOTES
? Coaching in his first Final Four, John Beilein is making his eighth appearance in the NCAA Tournament, including his third straight and fourth overall with Michigan. He is 12-7 in NCAA Tournament games, including 6-3 at Michigan.

? Beilein, who previously coached at Canisius, Richmond and West Virginia, is one of nine coaches to take four different teams to the NCAA Division I Tournament. Overall, he has taken five teams to the NCAA postseason, including his Division II appearance with LeMoyne in 1988.

? Beilein is 0-9 all-time against Syracuse, including 0-1 at Michigan. He was 0-2 against Syracuse while at Richmond and 0-6 at West Virginia.

PLAYER NOTES
? All five starters (Mitch McGary, Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr. Glenn Robinson III and Nik Stauskas) are averaging 12.3 points or more in the NCAA Tournament

? Mitch McGary's NCAA Tournament average of 11.5 rebounds per game leads all Final Four participants, while his average of 17.5 points per game is second to Louisville's Russ Smith (26.0). McGary is the only Final Four participant to average a double-double in the NCAA Tournament, despite averaging less than 30 minutes per game.

? McGary has made 33 of 45 field goals (73.3 percent) in four NCAA Tournament games.

? Trey Burke leads all Final Four participants with 31 assists in the four NCAA Tournament games. Louisville's Peyton Siva is second with 20.

? Burke is averaging 20.2 points for the last 11 games, including 15.6 points and 7.2 assists in the NCAA Tournament.
